5 GOLD — 9 SILVER — 2 BRONZE:
The 14th Gold Coast Open was held at the Carrara Indoor Sports Stadium. The two day event was organised by Master Carlos Lakerdis. This year marked a huge comeback from competitors after the COVID pandemic. There were 630 athletes, added to that the coaches and families of the 69 clubs (domestic and internationally).
The Mt. Gravatt and Middle Park clubs of Sunbae Korean Martial Arts performed a grading on April 22nd, 2024, at the Mt. Gravatt Dojang (Training Hall).
A commendable effort from Sun Bae students in warding off the evil spirits... We kihap, we kick & punch and we dress up to protect our club. Such... is our dedication!
A black belt in taekwondo is not just to tie around our body. It's achievement is representative of our success acquired through dedication & perseverance.

16 GOLD — 6 SILVER — 4 BRONZE: the Taekwondo competition of sparring and poomsae (patterns) was held at the Morayfield Sports complex in Caboolture on Sunday 18 June 2023. A nice day, somewhat chillier than usual, great conditions for Taekwondo players. Sun Bae Korean Martial Arts was represented from many centres — as an open event (i.e. no qualifying to enter) — with 23 players: Newmarket (8), Kenmore (5), Middle Park (4), Regents Park (3), The Gap (2), Toowoomba (1), who all participated in the Taekwondo poomsae. At the closing of year 2022, Mt Gravatt students attempted board breaking. The juniors were very ambitious and all managed to break a timber.

Kumdo (Korean Sword) Cutting Action: at one of my centres Indooroopilly, Brisbane, Australia. This cut is a double cut. The second cut is on the mat as it is falling. We used a thin mat of bamboo (approx 6cm), which allows the mat to propel off the stand and fall to ground quicker. The speed of the cutting is about 0.4 of a second to complete both cuts...
...this is really good training for my golf swing speed actually.
