MIddle Park update 2025
2025 TAEKWONDO UPDATE
It has been a while since the last post about the Middle Park club, and a lot has happened in that time. Some of the highlights include the Halloween Event, the December Award Ceremony, the November Grading, and the end of year bowling party.
Middle Park is starting 2025 strong, and the next goal for Instructor Brendan and the students is the grading alongside students from Mt. Gravatt in March. Mikayla Krack will also be going to for her black belt test in March, and upon success, will be Instructor Brendan's first black belt student.
Below are some of the events from Middle Park over the last few months.
Halloween Night
The Halloween event consisted of group challenges that had a lot of energy, and finished with a fun board break segment where almost all of the students broke the boards with kicks that were increasingly challenging for their levels.
The group exercises were point based, with four teams pitted against each other in competition. The final scores were quite close.
December Award Ceremony
The award ceremony consisted of awards such as Student of the Year, Sun Bae Award, Instructor's Choice Award, and some other exciting achievements. Highlights from this evening included the demonstrations from Kukkiwon and the Middle Park/Kenmore students, and the Middle Park Student of the Year awards going to Jung Kang and Curtis Ding.
November Grading
The November Grading consisted of the highest amount of Middle Park students achieving Honours results in 2024, including Curtis D., who received a double-promotion to Red 1.
Parent Training Event
Instructor Brendan planned a special evening where the juniors invited one parent to train alongside them, which was a very successful night for the parents to learn the basics alongside their children.
This event consisted of stretches, stances, footwork, basic hand techniques, and the learning of basic kicks such as Front Kick. The parents even got to kick the pads being held by their kids, which they were more than eager to do.
End of Year Event
2025 began with parents and students doing a Middle Park bowling event, where only a single student from the adult and the junior classes could be the victor. Nic and Sophie Melville, father and daughter, won for both of these groups with a tremendous bowling result.
Extra Family Discount and Fairplay Vouchers
Sun Bae has now introduced an increased discount on the joining and training fees for families with a 3rd, 4th, or 5th family member interested in signing up. This is a great new initiative that effectively allows a 3rd family member to train for free for up to 12 weeks.
Sun Bae has also been added to the directory of sports and activities that allows for Fairplay Vouchers to be used for children and teenagers that are part of the initiative, providing an extra benefit to parents.
