MIddle Park Grading March 2023
Grading Report - Taekwondo
The first grading of 2023 for the Middle Park club occurred on March 13th, at the Middle Park training hall. Students from the Regents Park club attended this grading as well, and it was overseen by Grand Master Bradley, Master Mark, and Instructor Brendan.
19 Middle Park students graded, with 15 of those students grading during that night, while the other 4 graded at either Kenmore or the Gap in the following grading sessions. This grading saw the promotion of one new yellow belt, one new blue belt, and one new red belt.
The students experienced new challenges during this grading, as recent changes to poomsae (Patterns) from Kukkiwon (Headquarters of Taekwondo in Korea) meant quite a few techniques required updating. Middle Park students showed strength and skill in matters of sparring, and strike combinations, but their next point of focus is on the updated patterns, and on again honing the basics to a higher level.
A new change for Middle Park is now with each Monday having a portion of the class dedicated to Hapkido (2 Mondays out of 4), Technical Kicks (1 Monday), and Contact Sparring (1 Monday). As a celebration for their hard work, the Monday following the grading was dedicated to Contact Sparring, with footage below.
Good work Middle Park students. We will now work hard towards the next grading in July 2023.
