2018 Championship Results
Championship Medal Tally
Newmarket's hold over the Club Championships ended this year, with Kenmore stepping up to amass 8 gold. The Gap were hot on their heels with a particularly strong start to the day, ending in 6 gold. Newmarket, whilst down, were not out and easily held on to third place.
Kenmore proved too strong and had plenty in reserve with 9 silver lurking amongst their 8 gold. We congratulate Senior Instructor Shirly and the Kenmore team on a truly fantastic performance. Amongst the gold for Kenmore included new Blue Belt Club Champion, Ooing Tosch and new Yellow Belt Club Champion Ruby Nguyen!
175 entrants competed in the 2018 Championships.
Players Team Trophy
The Players Team Trophy was won by Jamboree Heights. They fielded the smallest team this year with just 9 members. After amassing 5 medals, they nudged to the lead with a player percentage of 55.56%, enough to edge out Kenmore and Newmarket. We congratulate Team Captain Lloyd Bowden and Vice Captain Michael Bliss and the entire Jamboree Heights team for their win.
This is the first year Sun Bae has hosted this category, celebrating 20 years of Sun Bae competition.

High Kick Competition
The highest Taekwondo kick at Sun Bae remains set at 284cm. And whilst the record didn't break this year, everyone had a lot of fun trying. Young black belt Freddy Babbage was perhaps the closest, only 14cm shy.
Power Breaking - Roof Tiles
Another fun time at the comp, tile smashing fun. Master Mark Buxton had the most fun taking down 9 roof tiles.
Notably, in the girls division, a new Sun Bae record was made by Instructor Christine Nukunuku, taking down a whopping 8 tiles! Look out for the video, which we will have for you very soon. Its already on the Sun Bae FaceBook....
