2024 Annual Championship

The 22nd Sun Bae Championships is open only to Sun Bae members and entry is FREE. Spectators are also free.
The event is a non-contact team event including patterns and high kick. Up to 200 competitors will battle it out for the much coveted Championship Trophy and Players Trophy. Every member of the team placing 1st, 2nd and 3rd will receive a team medal — presented on the day. There are also medals for individual divisions — which are split into coloured belts (white, yellow, blue, red, red III, black), further split into four age groups per colour.
Defending Champions (with 7 gold) are Team Kenmore, followed closely by Team Newmarket who only loss by the silver medal count. Defending Poomsae Champion is Hannah Yang from Kenmore. Team Newmarket will try their very best to reclaim the championship title won in 2022. Train hard!

Competitions
Gold Coast Open May
15 of Sun Bae students participated in the poomsae event. All successfully won a medal. Find out who were the competitors from your centre and their achievements. Congratulation!
Kukkiwon Cup NZ August
Master Shirly competed in New Zealand recently and refereed for the poomsae event. She secured a Gold medal for the WT (Under 50) division performing poomsae Chonkwon and Keumgang, obtaining a score of above 7.
She was also awarded the best poomsae referee for the event.

Black belt (Dan) promotion April
Instructor Chris was promoted to 4 Dan and more recently achieved the Kukkiwon 3rd Class Master level.
Two 1st Gup students, Nathan Ryan and Matilda Fenton were approved to apply for Black belt grading in November. We look forward to their performance!
Hapkido 50th anniversary
Recently, Sun Bae Hapkido Black Belts attended the 50th Anniversary of Hapkido Moo Hak Kwan at NSW. The two day seminar was conducted by many Hapkido masters, including Grandmaster Bradley. Master Shirly and Instructor Steph were very honoured for the opportunity to train with Grandmaster Sung Soo Lee.
